When you talk to Pastor Samuel Asante Beecham he will openly tell you about his life in Ghana, West Africa. He understands what a tough life is being the son of a villager. But he also understands the importance of sharing the "good news" Gospels of Jesus Christ. And he will go the extra miles sharing his faith and hope telling his local villagers: "you can find hope in Jesus Christ." I can still hear Pastor Samuel Asante's voice singing that song in my heart "Blessed Assurance Jesus Is Mine." There are hours that we spend on the phone praying for each other and our countries and families. We both share the same faith and hope that we can bring more to the Kingdom of God. Even though we are miles apart our hearts and spirits are connected through Jesus Christ. Samuel calls me mum, and I call him son. I feel as connected to him and his family as if I was the woman that gave birth. And in a sense we are, we are birthing hope in Africa. I send money and instead of Pastor Samuel Asante spending the money on himself, he goes and buys a generator so he can preach longer and louder. Pastor Samuel Asante Beecham from the Potter's House Assemblies of God in Ghana might be just what Africa needs to feel the deep love of Jesus Christ. I haven't been able to go to Ghana to see my adopted family, but I can hear his sweet voice that drips honey in my ears. It's a voice that says mum, I will always have your back, and just like you took care of me when I was younger, I'll be there to take care of you when you're older. This is a son that can bring pure joy to a mother and father's heart.
Pastor Samuel Asante Beecham doesn't live with the modern things that we take for granted in America. He still has to fetch his water, and his wife washes their dirty clothes by hand. This is by no means a life of privilege but the heart of a servant that makes sacrifices to give to others.
I would say his priorities are pointed in the right direction. I think about the money I spend and the dollars wasted, and it makes me feel good to know that I'm able to invest in the Kingdom of God.
