Peter in Acts 5 16 was so filled with the Holy Spirit that his shadow could fall on someone as he walked by them and they would instantly be healed.
Acts 5:15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16 Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.
The question I hear from a lot of people is why don't we see miracles like this today? Where are the miracles?
I have to say to these people if you aren't seeing miracles in your life or hearing of them from the people you hang out with, it's time to make some changes.
Because Jesus Christ is the same today as yesterday! He hasn't changed, we have. We have modernized Christianity to fit in with the secular world. We dress like them, we watch what they watch, we hear what they hear. We run to see the doctor as soon as we get sick.
James 2:26 As the body without the Spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
You have to separate yourself from the world and come to total submission to God. You have to fill your days with praise and worship. You can't let the world distract you.
Peter was distracted all the time by the jealousy of the high priest and all the associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, They arrested him and put him in jail, he was threatened to never speak about Jesus again! But Peter never stopped, he was unstoppable! He felt an urgency inside of him to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. And like he said he was doing what God told him to do. Had he not been obedient to God he wouldn't have been filled with the Holy Spirit and we wouldn't be reading about these miracles 2000 plus years later.
But through the life of Peter and the apostles, we are seeing what it's like to walk in full obedience to God and to be separated from the world, with only heaven on our minds.
This, my friend, is a beautiful mind.
I don't know about you, but I want what Peter had. I want to be so filled with the Holy Spirit that people are healed as soon as they see me through the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ!
I pray today that you surrender yourself fully and become obedient to God so that you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit! There are a lot of Christians walking around without working in the Spirit today. They aren’t Spirit minded.
You will know them by the fruit of their Spirit.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Isaiah The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him-the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
I pray you find that freedom today!
How can you make changes in your life to live a life of obedience to God.
Go through your home and remove all movies rated R. Only watch PG or family rated movies.
Be careful of what you allow your eyes to see that stays filed in your mind.
Set boundaries of how you dress.
Live a life that glorifies God!
Ephesians 4:26 "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.
Stay connected with those that support you spiritually.
Pray for the renewing of your mind.
The devil is going to set traps for you to fall into them, walk away.
If there is someone in your household that irritates you, go to your room and make plenty of space between you and them.
Don't let their disobedience and unbelief get to you, separate yourself and make time for you and God.
God isn't going to give a child that's disobedient to their parents or parent the gift of the Holy Spirit! It's a gift from God for being obedient to God. Now if those parents are disobedient and the chilld is a believer and obedient to God that's a different story.
I see churches trying to make kids or force the Spirit in them, it's not going to happen without obedience and surrender. If you have a child that won't accept correction or discipline, it's not going to happen. The Holy Spirit is only going to go where there is submission to God and that person has crucified their flesh for Christ.
It takes more than just moving the tongue, it takes submission of the tongue to be obedient towards God!
Galatians 5:24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
