Acts 13:10 “You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?
When the devil wanted to get rid of John the Baptist that preached on repentance of being baptized in water to be saved. The devil sent a sexy young teenage girl named Salome to take John the Baptist out. Salome danced the Dance of Seven Veils a striptease dance seductively to get her and her evil mother’s way. Salome the daughter of the adulteress who was having an affair with her brother-in-law learned by her mother how to seduce men and manipulate them with her seductive young beauty. She must have been a treat for a man’s eyes but her mind was as venomous as a serpent ready to strike at the opportune time. She slithered on the floor baring her body to her mother’s husband. Slowly seducing him by removing one veil at a time to get her way. Until he begged her, I’ll give you anything you want. She then requested the head of John the Baptist on a platter which she handed his bloody severed head to her evil mother.
Matthew 14:3 Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Phillip’s wife, 4 for John had been saying to him: “It is not lawful for you have her.” 6 Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people because they considered John a prophet.
6 On Herod’s birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for the guests and pleased Herod so much 7 that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. 8 Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” 9 The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted 10 and had John beheaded in the prison. 11 His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother.
John the Baptist preached on repentance and the baptism of water. The baptism of water represented cleaning the conscience. Herodias had a guilty conscience for the sinful life she was living and felt condemned by John the Baptist. If she could have his head she thought her conscience would be cleared. There would no longer be anyone around to condemn her of her sinful life.
Trick or Treat?
Historian Josephus adds that Herodias joined Herod Antipas in exile in Lugdunum (Antiquities of the Jews 18, 7,2). Herod had been defeated in battle and was exiled by Aretas. Salome also reportedly decided to join Herod and Herodias in exile rather than be alone. The emperor had sent them to Spain and as she was passing over a frozen river, the ice broke and she sank in up to her neck and died. Did this occur because of their sin?
