And because of this time in history, it was before Jesus Christ had been born, so he lived under the old law of condemnation. Achan confessed his sins that he had stolen from the Lord. But he still had to face the consequences of his sins. His consequence was death.
As I was reading this story it came to my attention that we as believers of the resurrection of Jesus Christ are no longer living under the old law. But the day Jesus rose from the dead there was a new law put into place, Redemption."
I have to ask you, are you living under the old law of condemnation or the new law of redemption?
Because if you don't believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, you're living under the old law. The only way to break the chain is to crossover to the other side of redemption. It doesn't matter what you believe! It's what the Word says! And the word says, if you are not a believer you're living under the old law as Achan did back then. And the penalty of sin is death and separation from God for eternity. Jesus Christ died for us all regardless of our sins. We just have to accept it and believe it and receive it! You have the opportunity today to ask Jesus Christ to come into your life and be your Savior by confessing your sins to Him and asking for forgiveness! Or you can take the Achan way and face the penalty of sin is death and separation from God for all eternity, the choice is yours!
Joshua 7:20 Achan replied, "It is true! I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel.
21 Among the plunder I saw a beautiful robe from Babylon, 200 silver coins, and a bar of gold weighing more than a pound. I wanted them so much that I took them. They are hidden in the ground beneath my tent, with the silver buried deeper than the rest."
22 So Joshua sent some men to make a search. They ran to the tent and found the stolen goods hidden there, just as Achan had said, with the silver buried beneath the rest.
23 They took the things from the tent and brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites. Then they laid them on the ground in the presence of the LORD.
24 Then Joshua and all the Israelites took Achan, the silver, the robe, the bar of gold, his sons, daughters, cattle, donkeys, sheep, goats, tent, and everything he had, and they brought them to the valley of Achor.
25 Then Joshua said to Achan, "Why have you brought trouble on us? The LORD will now bring trouble on you." And all the Israelites stoned Achan and his family and burned their bodies.
26 They piled a great heap of stones over Achan, which remains to this day. That is why the place has been called the Valley of Trouble ever since. So the LORD was no longer angry.
