Why? Because there are too many distractions in my home. The television is going on in the other room. Noise. I can be easily distracted by a messy house and the mess others leave behind. I can stay there and let the devil enter my mind about the mess in the house or I can walk away and go to my room. There it’s just me with God.
I can’t be distracted. Because, it does me no good if I read it, and I don’t get it. I’m like the one standing in front of the mirror and forgetting what I look like.
The word of God is the only thing that can save you in this corrupt world in which we live. There are a lot of people that play the church game and pretend to be believers but their actions say otherwise. They don’t listen to the word and they don’t live by the word. They’re too engrossed in self and what others think about them. They can tell you every high score of their football team but they can’t tell you one Bible verse or recite it. These people play by their own selfish rules and rule out the truth the word of God that can save them and their families. When Jesus comes it will be like the days of Noah where some will be left behind.
We need to always stay ready and prepared for the harvest time when Jesus separates good from evil. We don’t want to be like the weeds that are thrown into the eternal flame. When you look in that mirror and stand there looking at yourself you should know who you are in Christ. I would suggest sticking your favorite Bible verse on that mirror or one that you want to learn. So when the day comes and you need the word you have the knowledge at your hands and for your mind to soak it in. I take my favorite verses and stick them in the bathroom in the kitchen and in my bedroom and yes on my mirror. I create my own mess with the word. And I figure if I have to live with their messes they can get use to mine as well. That’s Bible Study 101 for dummies. I was dumb when I first started reading the Bible. I don’t know how many times I have read it and each time I get something new out of it. It is a book to be treasured. It should be your special time with God. The only way you’re going to have an intimate relationship with God is by spending time alone with him and by getting to know him through his word. And you find yourself falling in love all over and over, again!
Psalm 1:2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
Luke 24:45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
Father God, I ask that you give us the wisdom to understand your word and the time to meditate on your word to change us and mold us into the person that you want us to be. I pray Father, that you have your way in me. Change my heart and give me a heart of flesh. Help me Lord to get along with others and to be an example for others to follow. I praise you and worship you! When I think of all that you’ve done for me I stand in amazement that my God loves me so much, and me, him. My God that created the whole universe wants to spend time with me. Thank you for being the lord of my life. Thank you for being my Savior. Oh, how I love you and cherish your word. It’s a book to be treasured. It’s like searching for lost treasures in each page. I find a new word that’s more valuable than silver or gold. Your word that sustains me and gives me hope. Your word that changes current circumstances and the temperature to weather. Your word that heals achy and broken bones. When I think of all you have done. I start to cry with joy! My God! How great Thou Art!
