"He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth." 34 The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?" 35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. 36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water, What can stand in the way of my being baptized?" 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him, 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. 40 Philip, however appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.
Philip was obedient to God and went to where the Holy Spirit led him. The Holy Spirit led him to exactly where he wanted him to go to a eunuch that was close to coming to Christ. He just needed someone to clarify what he was reading. This wasn't just an ordinary eunuch this was a high official to the queen of Ethiopia.
You know with the excitement that he had, he couldn't wait to share his new faith with his queen.
At the time the assignment may have seemed very small to Philip. But taking the time to stop and teach the word of God to that one man could have led to the salvation of many. Philip was trusted with a little and then he was given a lot.
How many times has the Holy Spirit given you an assignment and you did it to find that assignment led to something much bigger.
I remember when I first started this website it was to teach the kids in our house the word of God. Because I don't know how many times like the eunuch the kids in our care would say, I don't understand this explain it to me. I would take the time writing it down or categorizing verses for them to remember. This small assignment eventually led me to Africa, where I taught and preached for five weeks, this time last year. Had I never started out with that very small assignment at the time, I would have never been led to Ghana, West Africa where I taught them how to make soap, and preached, and they taught me acceptance! And youngbridesforchrist which is now Gospels for America wouldn't be reaching millions as it is today!
What assignment is the Holy Spirit calling you to do? It may seem like a very small assignment to you because like me then, I couldn't see the overall picture or scope of what it would eventually lead to!
Luke 16:10 "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
Oh, Father God, you, who created the heavens and the earth. I pray for your Holy Spirit to guide me and direct me. I ask that you make my ears and heart sensitive to your Spirit. Help me to become more obedient to you each day that I may draw closer to you and forget this world in which I live. Let my thoughts be in heaven that I may win the race of time. Open your outstretched arms to draw me closer that I may be used for your kingdom and remove all the obstacles that are in my way! I pray, Father, that you bless my comings and goings in all the directions in which you send me! I ask for your heavenly wisdom and discernment that I may lead others to the gift of salvation. Use me, Father, as an author, and a teacher or preacher and healer. However, you want to use me, I am yours through all eternity. I thank you, Lord, how you are using me and Gospels for America as a tool to lead others to Jesus Christ. I pray Lord that you expand our territory from the north, south east, and west that you send Gospels for America where you want the Word released. I pray for all the preachers and friends and new family members. I ask that you bless them, in Jesus' name.
