These kids need reassurance every day that they're loved. They need to know that there's hope and a future for them.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
I can't reiterate enough how much these kids need to feel God's love. When they start praying and seeing things in their life manifesting, they become new believers and warriors in Christ Jesus. I really believe that a family that prays together stays together. And one of the things we do before bedtime is all gather in the living-room with everything turned off, no distractions and take our turns in prayer. When these kids start seeing you praying for them it opens their hearts and heals their wounds knowing that they're loved and accepted for who they are.
When I talk to my kids they tell me acceptance is the biggest challenge for them because they never feel good enough.
None of these kids come with a manual or replacement parts, but what they do come with is a broken heart and broken spirit.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. 11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
As foster parents we need to reassure our kids that they're not alone. We're walking this walk with you. No I can't be with you at school. But, I want you to know that you have someone that believes in you. Whatever your dreams are, together through faith and prayer God will direct your life.
And maybe you can't be a gymnast at ten or twelve, but God has plans for your life. And his plans are always better and more meaningful than ours.
Proverbs 16:9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
Ecclesiastes 6:10 Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So there’s no use arguing with God about your destiny.
