Jabez had faith and his faith grew. Jabez lived according to God's ways. He loved God with all of his heart, mind, and soul. God could tell by his actions that his heart was true, that his heart was pure. Jabez knew that all he had do was go to God with his petition and God would answer and grant his prayers. Jabez didn't lack faith. He was set apart from his other brothers. He knew that he could go to his Heavenly Father and ask him anything and his Father would grant it. He asked for God to expand his territory, and God answered him. He asked God to keep him from all trouble and pain, and God answered him. I can't help but wonder did Jabez learn to seek God early on in his life? Did his brothers make his life more trying. We know that he lived an honorable life. Why was Jabez asking God to keep him from all trouble and pain? There are so many questions that go through my mind. Jabez could have been the youngest and picked on the most, so he wanted a lot of land to separate him from his brothers. There was something that brought Jabez to his knees before the throne of God. How would you like to be named painful. I can't help but wonder with a name like that his mother reminded him each day how much pain he was to her. But, he found love through the love of God.
