We seem to think that we have no accountability for our actions or our sins, but Paul is letting us know otherwise. God has put his boundaries and laws in place and if we cross those boundaries we face consequences of judgment against our actions or nation. How have we crossed those boundaries and laws today? We have allowed other gods to come into our country. We have allowed sexual immorality and same sex marriages. A lot of Americans have the attitude if it feels good do it, and sadly a lot of part-time Christians have the same attitude. Some are shacked up or living with their boyfriends or girlfriends. They aren’t obeying God’s boundaries. Paul is warning us that those that scattered their bodies to the wilderness and committed sexual immorality, God destroyed all twenty-three thousand of them. So why should we think that we have been given a free pass to live a sinful life? We don’t have a pass. He tells us in verse 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will provide a way out so that you can endure it. As Christians, we should be walking with the full armor of God. We should now have desires of the spiritual things and not of the world. If we get caught up in the desires of the world we face eternal separation from God. No sin is worth eternal separation from God. It doesn’t matter how good it feels! If it’s wrong in God’s eyes’, it’s wrong, it's sin! If you don’t think God gets angry, think again!
Matthew 21:12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.
Jesus was so angry that he became a destroying lion in the temple when he saw how they were using a place of worship to make money by selling goods.
If you are living in sin. I ask right now that you confess your sins and make that commitment to God that you will change the way you are living. Your sin is not only bringing curses to your life, but your sin is bringing disasters and judgment to our country as a whole. Don’t be so naive to think that your sin doesn’t affect us all when it does!
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Hosea 14:4 I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.
Exodus 4:8 Then the Lord said, "If they do not believe you or pay attention to the first sign, they may believe the second.
Father God, I accept Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe he is the Son of God that was crucified for my sins. I believe all my sins were nailed to that cross. I ask that you forgive me for all my sins known and unknown. Forgive me, Lord, for crossing your boundaries and not respecting your Word. I will meditate on your word so that I may live a godly life. And I believe through his resurrection and the Holy Spirit that I can overcome the desires of my flesh. I ask Lord that you crucify my flesh and take all these desires away from me and close all the doors that I have opened with my sinful desires and sinful nature. I ask for the renewing of my mind for you to set the boundaries where my mind cannot travel. I thank you, Lord! You are my Savior and I promise from this day forward to bring glory and honor to your name! I ask Lord that you show your mercy and grace and turn your wrath in the other direction. I ask this in Jesus' name.
