Sibling sexual abuse isn’t anything that I got over easily. It followed me for the rest of my life. It destroyed relationships and created hopelessness. It alienated me from my family where I became divided between truths and lies. There were some family members that refused to accept the truth and were charmed by my brother. They refused to see it for anything more than sibling rivalry. While, I the victim of SSA lived in a world of truth and nightmares learning how to cope in life. It was, and is hard for me to live where there’s any type of conflict. It can instantly put me in the fight or flight mode. It also made me vulnerable of victimization. I learned this as a foster parent that took in children that nobody else wanted. I soon saw some with their predatorial instincts come out on me. I also became a victim of physical abuse by getting involved in unhealthy relationships when I was younger. I have to be careful and not to take the flight, but fight for what I believe. I live by faith. I depend on Jesus Christ to get me through each day and to end the nightmares. The nightmares followed me for decades. I believe sibling sexual abuse is a story that has to be told and released. I suppressed my thoughts and feelings for years and it disrupted me from ever living a normal life. It’s nothing that I should’ve suppressed. It was something that I should’ve told when it happened. But I was too scared to say anything. My brother’s threats scared me. He told me several times if I said anything I would be thrown in the deepest part of the lake with cement blocks tied around me and nobody would ever find me. And my brother was much older and bigger than me. I felt so relieved once I started telling my story. I felt free at last. I still have those worries who’s really going to stick with me and who’s going to believe me? But I know in my heart of hearts that it doesn’t matter because Jesus Christ knows the truth and that’s all that matters. The world chewed me up and spit me out when I was very young just trying to figure things out. I lived a life of crushed dreams and hopelessness. I learned to depend on faith and God and the Holy Spirit to guide me into perfect peace. Sibling sexual abuse is a sin that destroyed my soul. It made me feel full of shame, hopelessness, low self-esteem and self-doubt. It literally crushed and destroyed me. It was a knife in my foot that froze me in time. I became scared of life and moving forward. I couldn’t accept any kind of change. It paralyzed me. I was frozen in time. I felt like a child caught in a horrible board game. I lived in my own Jumanji. There was no escape. The attacks got worse each day. It was only by the grace of Jesus Christ that I finally found peace. I know now that I can meet my grave in peace.

those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
Jeremiah 31:25 For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.”26 At this, I woke up and looked around. My sleep had been very sweet.
Philippians 4:6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 4:8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.

I was eight-years-old in this picture and I had already been molested by my older brother and his friend. When I was just 7 years-old my brother cheered his friend on to molest me. And then, my older brother started sneaking in my room doing things to me while I was trying to sleep. This would continue for seven more years. He started calling me a whore a slut and I didn't even know what those words meant. My brother was into pornography, alcohol and drugs. I think he's been doing illegal drugs most of his life. I realize now that what he did to me crossed all the boundaries. He was a sexual offender.
