Billy Graham said he simply wanted to be known as Pastor Billy Graham.
Pastor Billy Graham was a man of God that some say he was like a Saint that walked the earth proudly sharing the Gospels of Jesus Christ. He advised many United States presidents past and present. And led a lot of lost souls to redemption. He was truly a man of God that when he spoke people listened. He wasn’t a pastor with a big church. His church was outside and his walls were the sky and his attendance was anyone that was hungry for the word of God. His lights were the stars that led people to the altar. He drew audiences of millions over the years wherever he spoke and people would line up heading to the altar to admit their sins and ask for forgiveness.
Pastor Billy Graham made people accountable of their sins. He wasn’t someone that was judgmental. He would often say we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Pastor Billy Graham also said his favorite story in the Bible was in Luke the story of the prodigal son. Pastor Billy Graham was that father that openly forgave his children leading millions of them to the altar with love and forgiveness letting them know that there isn’t a sin that God will not forgive. You could never go too far as far as God was concerned as long as you asked for forgiveness and made things right with God. I think it was the sheer honesty and how humbly he presented himself that made himself a father to the lost in the world.
He was a man that any sinner could feel comfortable with. He never pointed the finger or used accusations. He brought people to the altar by simply leading them with the truth. John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
He led people to be fully devoted to Jesus Christ and to change their bad habits to get rid of their addictions. There wasn’t anyone that Jesus Christ would reject. That could be why he did his crusades outside in the open air. There were no doors or walls to block attendance. He wanted to make Jesus available for everyone.
A huge light went out on February 21, 2018 when Pastor Billy Graham went to be with the Lord and now many are saying who’s going to lead us now that he’s gone? Will God send another Pastor Billy Graham that died humbly buried in a coffin made by inmates.
He didn’t ask to be called Doctor Graham or Reverend Graham. He understood that it isn’t the title that matters. But it’s about the man Jesus Christ that died for all of our sins.
I will miss you Pastor Billy Graham among millions of others that you got the attention of and the light went on in our hearts to lead others as evangelist of Jesus Christ.
